
Bass trombone was his final choice, together they won several international competitions in 2016 Budapest, Hungary, 2008 Jeju, Korea, 2006 ITF, Birmingham, UK, and 2005 ITF, New Orleans, USA.Matyas is the only bass trombonist in the world who won all these competitions.
His Corpus Trombone Quartet, from which he is a founding member, also won three first prizes in international competitions: in 2005 (München), in 2003 (Guebwiller, France), and 2003 (Helsinki).As a bass trombonist, he was a member of the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra (NedPhO) in Amsterdam, the Essener Philharmoniker and currently he is a full-time member of the Staatsorchester Stuttgart.As a guest player he performed with many orchestras a.o. the BBC Wales National Symphony Orchestra, Palau de les arts "Reina Sofia" Valencia Opera House, Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra, Bavarian Rundfunk Symphony Orchestra, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Philharmonia London, and The Hallé Orchestra Manchester.
He worked with the conductors Lorin Maazel, Andris Nelsons, Daniele Gatti, Ingo Metzmacher, Christoph von Dohnányi, Lahav Shani, and Sir Mark Elder.Matyas Veer held masterclasses worldwide and was a member of the jury at several festivals & competitions. He is a university teacher in Würzburg, Germany. He taught at several Universities as a Guest Professor at Rotterdam CODART in 2014, Conservatorium Van Amsterdam in 2016, Royal College London in 2018, Royal Northern College in 2018, Hochschule für Musik Würzburg, and Sibelius Academy Helsinki in 2019.
